Why I support a national draft

Two female suicide bombers killed 65 people and wounded 149 at Baghdad pet markets on Friday, the twin blasts inflicting the bloodiest day on the Iraqi capital for six months.

Can you imagine walking around Boston, or say Faneull Hall, and then suddenly there's an explosion and death and carnage is all around you? Maybe a friend or a loved one's life is snuffed out while you're having coffee? And this happens a lot? This is part of your life, your consciousness?

This is why I support a draft. People in this country are so quick to support a war when they don't have anything personally invested in it. "They knew what they were getting into when they signed up." Another mother's child syndrome.

Well, let's see how quick you'd support a war on terrorism (when it's really a war for oil and corporate profits) when you have to send your child to war. And when your kid dies and you find out the government lied to you, see how pissed you'd really be.
